WATERS’20 is a satellite workshop of ECRTS’20. The goal of the International Workshop on Analysis Tools and Methodologies for Embedded and Real-time Systems (WATERS) is to create a common ground and a community to share methodologies, software tools, best practices, data sets, application models, benchmarks and any other way to improve comparability of results in the current practice of research in real-time and embedded systems.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to the recent developments of SARS-COV-2 pandemic, we decided to postpone WATERS to the next edition of ECRTS 2021 which will be held in Modena.

The goal of WATERS is to collect researchers in an unique venue where they can discuss and share ideas. The workshop therefore benefits more from the interaction and lively discussion around the presented challenge, tools and benchmarks, which will be hard to implement as a virtual event.

we hope you understand our decision and we are looking forward to your contribution and participation to next year’s edition of WATERS!

Focus of this year

This year at WATERS the focus will be on the following topic:

Modeling and Performance Analysis of High-performance Computing Platforms

The integration trend and increased required computing power is currently driving the adoption of common embedded consumer devices into the safety-critical domain. These platforms include heterogeneous Multi-Processor Systems-on-Chip (MPSoCs) integrating general-purpose microprocessors and accelerators such as GPUs, previously restricted to the high-performance computing domain. Multiple hardware features including micro-architecture choices, shared resources, interconnects, and memory hierarchy are therefore becoming a dominant performance factor that tremendously challenges established methodologies and tools in the real-time systems community. Therefore, a proper understanding, modeling and benchmarking  of the important HW/SW features that influence performance in high-perfomance computing platforms is currently required.

The goal of this year’s edition at WATERS is to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry working in the fields of real-time systems, design automation and  HW/SW co-design in order to discuss current and emerging methodologies for modeling and performance analysis of high-performance heterogeneous platforms.

Proposed format

The program of the workshop will include invited talks from industry and academia experts. The workshop will also involve contributions to the proposed challenge, contributed talks, and panel discussions.
