4th Intl WORKSHOP ON Real Time Networks RTN 05 Palma de Mallorca, Spain, Juli 5, 2005 http://ivs.cs.uni-magdeburg.de//to be announced in conjunction with the 17th Euromicro Intl Conference on Real-Time Systems Palma de Mallorca, Spain, July 6 - 8, 2005 ------------------------------------------------- The Euromicro Technical Committee organizes a number of satellite events attached to its 17th International Real-Time Systems Conference. The Real Time Networks (RTN, formerly RTLIA)) workshop is the fourth on the series of workshops that started at the 2002 Euromicro conference. RTN focuses on the current technological challenges of developing communication infrastructures that are real- time, reliable, pervasive and interoperable. The goal of this workshop is to bring together people from industry and academia that are interested in all aspects of real-time communication. The workshop will provide a relaxed forum to present and discuss new ideas, new research directions and to review current trends in this area. The workshop will be based on short presentations that should encourage discussion among the attendees. Statements which are innovative, controversial or that present new approaches are specially sought. Contributions are welcome which address real-time, QoS and dependability issues of communication on the network, the middleware and the application level. This may include but is not constraint to the following areas: - Wireless Sensor Networks - Automotive networks - Networked embedded systems - Interoperability and integration of multiple networks and network types - LAN Technologies: industrial Ethernet, fieldbus networks, Myrinet, etc. - Ubiquitous computing and ambient intelligence - Middleware and Infrastructures for QoS control - Multimedia communication - Communication Technologies for e-Activities: e-health, e-monitoring, etc. - Predictability in MANETs for SAR and disaster management - Wired or wireless communication in intelligent buildings and smart spaces - Evaluation and case studies - Industry experience reports SUBMISSION OF PAPERS: People who would like to participate in this event are asked to submit a 4 page short paper to the workshop chair (kaiser@ivs.cs.uni-magdeburg.de). Upon acceptance, a corrected version of the paper should be prepared and submitted. All papers will be made available to all participants a week before the workshop so that contributions can be examined prior to the workshop. The workshop sessions will involve short presentations followed by an intensive session-oriented discussion. Authors will be asked to produce a final version of their paper that includes the issues covered in the discussions by September 1, 2005. The final papers will be published. To foster the workshop character the number of participants will be limited to 30. There will be a small charge for workshop registration. The workshop will be held in Palma de Mallorca.
